The TRAXX AC1 is a series of electric locomotives developed primarily for freight transport. The designation TRAXX stands for “Transnational Railway Applications with eXtreme fleXibility”. Weighing 84 tonnes, it delivers 5.6 MW of continuous power and is approved for 140 km/h.
The 185 550 was delivered to Rail4Chem in 2005. Since 2010, it has been owned by Captrain Deutschland GmbH and has been used by companies such as RBB, BCB and BLS Cargo, amongst others. Since the end of 2012, the locomotive has featured the typical Captrain design and represents private European rail freight transport.
