The DB AG Class 182 is a Siemens ES64U2 multi-system electric locomotive. Deutsche Bahn procured 25 locomotives of this class after the originally planned Class 152 was not approved for use in Austria as intended.
Until 2009, the Class 182 locomotives were mainly used in freight transport despite their high performance. In the meantime, however, DB Schenker, DB’s freight division at the time, had acquired other locomotives suitable for use in Austria (Class 185). In the course of 2011, all 25 Class 182 locomotives were transferred to the DB Regio fleet.
